ComedySportz Creative Services, a leader in Improv-Based Learning & Development solutions, is proud to host another meeting of the Interactive Learning Professional Development Network.

Learning & Development Professionals from the Chicagoland Area are invited to hear Jon Aleckson, PhD of Web Courseworks Ltd. speak on how to "Stop the Page Turner: 10 Ways to Make eLearning Interactive". Then, the majority of the evening will feature discussion and application as we work together to plan improvements to our own eLearning programs.   

Jon Aleckson, PhD, is an adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin – Platteville where he teaches his authored course, “Introduction to Distance Education Leadership.” He writes “Managing eLearning,” a blog on current eLearning trends and released his book “MindMeld” in 2011 with co-author Penny Ralston-Berg. Jon has managed eMedia development for 30 years as CEO of Web Courseworks, an educational technology company.

The Interactive Learning PDN brings together practitioners and enthusiasts for Training Games, Gamification, Interactive Exercises, and all other Learning Professionals who think fun and interactivity are critical to successful retention, engagement, and skill transfer.  The PDN is sponsored by the Chicagoland Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development.

This Friday at midnight,  Talk Hard, Chicago’s hit late-night, uncensored talk show is proud to present Micah Petry. Micah of AngryCake Productions recently created a web series, Baristas, following the lives of four twenty-something coworkers and their insane boss. Also joining the show is comedienne, Kelsie Huff. Kelsie has been described as a “Midwestern American Intangible Cultural Treasure” who has performed at venues such as Zanies and the Laugh Factory as well as the Chicago Funny Female Festival. Kelsie’s show “10% Less Fat” which focused on the absurdity of female body image has been performed all over the Midwest. As always, this show is live and uncensored, hosted by the unpredictable Jamie Campbell, and written by a staff that was hand-picked from Chicago’s world famous comedy scene. Auditions for ComedySportz Professional Ensemble, House Teams and Genesis League Begin Saturday, September 7

Auditions and callbacks for our Professional Ensemble, House Teams, and a fall run of Genesis League will be held on the following dates:

 

Auditions: Saturday, September 7, 10am -5 pm; Sunday September 8, 10 am-5 pm; Monday, September 9, 6-10pm

Callbacks: Tuesday, September 10 6pm-10pm (60min slots)

 

We are interested ONLY in performers with previous improv training and performance experience.

Ensemble members perform ComedySportz regularly and are given first consideration for our touring company performances, corporate workshops, and events marketing/trade show work. We are a paid professional ensemble seeking the strongest improvisers to help us grow while providing on stage experience that will help propel you to the next level.

 

Commitment for New Ensemble Members:
• Be able to provide electronic headshot, resume, and bio.
• Attend 8-12 sessions of "New Player Training" (schedule TBA.)
• Watch six ComedySportz shows in their first two months.
• Attend weekly Tuesday evening rehearsals.
• Submit availability for at least four home-shows per week including Saturdays at 6pm.
• Work closely with a mentor for the first six months after New Player Training.
• Accept and apply notes received from ComedySportz leadership.
• Successfully complete a review process after first three months performing.

In the interests of preparing Chicago improvisers to do professional level short-form improvisation, the following programs run in repertory with the show ComedySportz and will also be cast from these auditions:

House Team - is a farm team of performers that are on the cusp of being ready for ComedySportz, but are believed to be best suited by time in this program. A house team is a one year commitment where performers fine-tune their short form skills, create interesting showpieces, and potentially sit-in for ComedySportz shows.


• Genesis League FALL RUN is a remounting of our popular Summer program of Genesis League. This is program provides real world short-form performance experience to aid performers in improving their improv game.
